Who can participate?

you have a child of at least 6 months of age (even children who can already speak a few words can still tremendously benefit); in this case you can dive right into signing straight after the workshop
you have a baby younger than 6 months or are expecting a baby; in this case you can familiarise yourself with the concept of signing with your baby, start slowly and dive in a little later
your child is around two years old and speaks very little (50 spoken words is the average vocabulary of a two year old, children who are exposed to signing generally have a much larger vocabulary); in this case signing can help to improve communication and support speech development right away as at this age children can pick up signing very quickly

The workshop is targeted at parents, the registration fee is for both parents. Not yet mobile babies are welcome too.

This course will help you put into practice what you learned in the workshop. It includes access to all of the workshop information (printable version available too) as well as supporting video material (how to make the signs and how to remember them, real life examples of me signing with my daughter and sing and sign along activities). “Perseverance pays off”

I’ve just been trying to count up all of Louis’ signs. He’s 17.5 months now and I have counted 60 signs that he uses regularly. There may be others that I just haven’t thought of, but that’s what I came up with off the top of my head. My husband and I are so delighted we started signing when he was a tiny baby and persevered for many months when he wasn’t signing back. He finally clicked at about 12 months and his signing has just taken off since then. What’s even more amazing is that he recognises all of those words in English and French and has the sign as a bridge between the two languages. He still only has about 3 spoken words so it’s an absolute relief and joy that he can communicate with us using his signs. Just had to share this with you and the other signing Mamas! Thank you, Diana, for your infectious enthusiasm about baby signing. It really helped us to keep going for months and months before Louis actually started signing!
